Modern attitude towards in children emerged in the late 19th century; the middle and upper classes of the Victorian era emphasized the role of the family and the dignity of the child, – an attitude that has remains dominant in Western societies ever since. The kind of children’s literature is emerged, with a proliferation of humorous and child-oriented books adapted to the child’s imagination. Lewis Carroll’s fantasy Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, published in England in 1865, was a landmark in the genre; regarded as the first “English masterpiece written for children”, its publication opened the “First Golden Age” of children’s literature.
The second half of the 19th century saw the introduction of compulsory state schooling of children across Europe, which permanently took children from work in schools. The market economy of the 19th century allowed the concept of children as a time of pleasure of happiness. Factory built dolls and dollhouses delighted the girls and boys organized sports and activities. The Boy Scouts was founded by Sir Robert Baden-Powell in 1908,who provided young boys with outdoor activities designed to develop character, citizenship, and personal fitness skill.
